RYAN ENGLISH: The first thing for me in your work that stands out is the presence of strong women, screen icons. I am wondering how much you identify with these women?
FRANCESCO VEZZOLI: No, I don't necessarily identify with these women. I more identify with anyone who is involved with the creative profession ... [you are] bound to suffer, you know, the ups and downs of attention--or lack of attention-so no matter how strong you [are] that can always be ... hard to deal with. For me, these divas embody the general struggle of any artist who is strong-willed. No matter who you are you have to go through the ups and downs of people's attention which is what you fight for or struggle for, your entire life. That is what interests me, fascinates me about them--on top of that their acting skills, their strength.
