Geoff Brennan was a non-conventional economist who explored the deterministic components affecting voting decisions of individuals. He looked at costs and benefits within a complex arena that took considerations beyond the assumption that people are rational; supposedly, acting in their own best interest. He aspired to create an integrated framework that explained the economics of political decision making with considerations of human expressionism, philosophy, political theory, and psychology. In 2004, the European Center for the Study of Public Choice (ECSPC) held a conference to honor Brennan's research. Beyond Conventional Economics is an extension of papers by ten authors who had previously collaborated with Brennan. Chapters examine various subliminal factors that determine the leadership and policy decisions that dictate political outcomes.
