Description
Photographers of all experience levels have room for education. That's why Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co., Secaucus, N.J., launched the Panasonic Digital Photo Academy by Panasonic Lumix (www. digitalphotoacademy.com) in June. The academy courses are offered on a monthly basis, with Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
Only the beginning
The academy began with the idea of benefiting the imaging space as a whole, says Richard E. Campbell, vice president, Imaging, Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co. "We understand the importance of promoting the imaging industry," he says. "We want consumers to take more pictures." Panasonic paired with Richard Rabinowitz and his company, R2Rainmaker Marketing Services LLC (www.r2rainmaker.com), to develop the academy. Rabinowitz was chosen to assist
Panasonic because he has more than 25 years' experience in special promotion and marketing for photography clients like Canon, Fujifilm, Kodak, Nikon, and others. For 15 years, Rabinowitz was also the vice president and group publisher of Popular Photography and American Photo magazines.
With these qualifications, Rabinowitz recruited 48 professional photographers from 20 major cities across the United States, many of whom he knew on a personal level.
