Personalized media publishing solutions are delivering on the promise of digital imaging. Consumers can now make just about any unique, one-of-a-kind media product with their own images. Whether or not they do that, though, depends on many factors--the most important being ease of creation.

In the fairly new photo DVD category, vendors are working hard at making DVD creation solutions that are simple for the consumer and quick for the retailer. Here's a look at some offerings.

"We pride ourselves on delivering the world's easiest to use solutions in retail, and we've made this extremely easy to use," says Rowan Lawson, director of worldwide marketing for the Retail Systems Solutions, of the Kodak Picture Movie DVD, announced at PMA 07.

"Consumers can make a slide show of 40 images set to licensed popular music, such as 'Walking on Sunshine' by Katrina & the Waves," he says. "It's meant to be a keepsake to share with families and friends. Along with offering a range of 20 original artist music tracks, the Kodak Picture Movie DVD pans and zooms around the still image, bringing life to the slide show. It's a very a powerful sharing mechanism."
