Sen. Daniel K. Akaka (D-Hawaii) has assumed the chairmanship on the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs in the 110th Congress. He succeeds Republican Sen. Larry Craig of Idaho. Rep. Bob Filner (D-Calif.) has been selected to chair the House Veterans' Affairs Committee. Rep. Steve Buyer (R-Ind.) headed the panel in the 109th Congress.
