The Anonymous Consumer was faced with a quandary. One of his favorite cameras-the Kodak V570 dual-lens zoom camera--had developed an annoying habit of not focusing. Or, rather, one of the camera's two lenses developed the habit. The wide-angle lens was just fine, but its sibling provided a not altogether unpleasant soft-focus effect on most pictures. This wasn't, however, an undocumented feature: The "red hand" in the upper right-hand corner of the viewfinder clearly indicated something was amiss.
The AC tried to troubleshoot the problem himself. First, he cleaned the lenses, including the sensors (thinking the focusing problems were due to smudged AF sensors). No luck. Then he thought it might be related to taking pictures in low light, but the problem occurred even in normal room lighting.
