Though nearly half of the population names beef as their preferred meat, chicken still remains a popular and profitable product--and poultry merchandisers have ample room for revenue expansion, research reveals.
An on-line survey of nearly 12,000 adults conducted in June by Zogby International, a Utica, NY.-based polling and public opinion research firm, found that beef was preferred by 47 percent of meat eaters, 36 percent favored chicken and 7 percent preferred pork.
