I am deeply humbled and honored that you have chosen me to represent you as your National Commander in the year ahead.
Thank you for the confidence you have placed in me, and I will do my absolute best to be worthy of this truly great honor.
I particularly want to acknowledge the great work by National Commander Bradley S. Barton. Brad's dedication to our mission will be a tough act to follow. I know that he will remain active in the DAV, and we will have the benefit of his experience and wise counsel.
As I have come to learn over the years, the DAV is an amazing group of Americans. Our diverse membership really is a reflection of our nation as a whole. And in spite of the things that make every one of us different and unique, we all share a very strong common bond.
We are all dedicated to the DAV's mission of service and hope. And when our membership is focused on our collective goals, nobody does it better than the DAV.
After I was injured when my parachute collapsed on that night jump 20 years ago, I realized that I would have to start my life over again.
