The sun is setting on NDBs in the U.S. But in Canada, they're still players in the airspace system. If you want to shoot the approach into Powell River, B.C., (CYPW), you'll need to have an ADF in that airplane, and you'll want to give that approach plate a close look.

Oddball

The approach is a bit of an oddity to the U.S. in that it's an NDB/DME. This poses a couple questions. First off, Canadian rules are similar to the U.S. in that if it doesn't say "GPS" somewhere in the title, you can't fly the approach using only your IFR GPS.
