Description
L.L. Bean Inc., Freeport, Maine, was created with the customer in mind. This outdoors retail chain was formed in 1912 by Maine sportsman Leon Leonwood Bean, who established above-average standards of easy returns and satisfaction guarantees. He was known for commitment to the experience of his shoppers.
Close to 100 years later, L.L. Bean (www.llbean.com) stores are maintaining those original customer service standards. Since 2000, all seven East Coast locations have offered customer-focused Walk-On Adventures.
The aim of Walk-On Adventures is to provide customers hands-on experience with different products and handling techniques. Adventures in kayaking, fly casting, sporting clays, archery, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are offered on a seasonal basis. Each consumer signs up in the store the day they want to participate, pays a fee of $15 and is provided round-trip shuttle transportation from the store to the designated location.
