| This summer, as everyone knows, the biggest planets in the art stratosphere are lining up. The prospect of the once-a-decade convergence of the Venice Biennale, the Munster Sculpture Project and documenta, all kicking off in June, and complemented by the Basel Art Fair, the most venerable of the now-flourishing commercial art fair format, creates a kind of hysteria familiar to habitues of the art world. Like other entertainments, the art business is event-driven; but at a heightened register. Of all of the types of events that require the presence of an audience at a venue, art exhibitions promise, perhaps, the least predictable of outcomes.
