Greenwood -- In the early 1990s, when Cindy Tyler was selling ladies clothing lines in Mississippi and Louisiana for Kirkland, Ltd., featuring well-known brand names Eagle Eye, Pierre Cardin and Izod, she thought about starting her own business, one that would showcase homegrown and locally handcrafted products and allow her to make a living in the Mississippi Delta, where her fiance lived.
"Tim and I began our company when we were both 26 years old, with a dream and the love and support of both of our families," said Tyler, CEO of The Mississippi Gift Company, based in Greenwood. "We married on Nov. 6, 1993, and opened Mississippi Product Sales three weeks later."
The Tylers initially established Mississippi Product Sales as a fundraising venue for the Boy Scouts of America.
