Description: Hanesbrands, Inc. was spun off from Sara Lee in 2006, during which Sara Lee contributed its branded apparel Americas and Asia business. As a consumer goods company with a portfolio of leading apparel brands, Hanebrands designs, manufactures, sources and sells a broad range of apparel essentials such as T-shirts, bras, panties, men's underwear, kids' underwear, casualwear, activewear, socks and hosiery. Operations are managed and reported in five operating segments: innerwear, outerwear, international, hosiery and other. The majority of sales consist of wholesale sales to retailers; retail operations include Hanesbrands' value-based outlet stores, Internet operations and catalogs. In addition, Hanesbrands had 213 outlet stores in 40 states, most leased. Canada, Europe, Japan and Mexico, are the company's largest international markets, and it also has sales offices in India, and China. Hanes is the company's largest and most widely recognized brand, Champion second-largest and Playtex third. Other brands are Bali, L'eggs, Just My Size, Wonderbra, Stedman, Outer Banks, Zorba, Rinbros and Duofol. During 2008, the company added three owned sewing plants in Southeast Asia - two in Vietnam and one in Thailand - and an embroidery facility in Honduras. More
