Description: Manufacturing: Manufacture and distribution of cotton yarn, nylon yarn, cloth and wool. The Corporation was set up in 1972 in order to manage a total of 84 mills that were set up by private entrepreneurs in the 1950s and 1960s. These mills were to produce textile products for meeting the national demand and also for export. The mills used modern machinery and skilled workers to optimise production and meet competition in local and foreign markets. The Government also created a new cadre of public sector officials to facilitate the management of textile mills and other public sector enterprises
