Description: Communications: WETA is a full-service communications company formed to market the production capabilities of the WETA public broadcasting stations, offering comprehensive teleconferencing services, video production project management, and product support service. Video teleconferencing services are available individually or as a package and include fixed-fee feasibility studies that provide a detailed plan and cost analysis; concept development (script development, preproduction planning, print materials development, conference management plan, delivery plan, and evaluation design); satellite networking and downlink arrangements; on-site conference management; and distribution of print materials. Following the videoconference, a final evaluation report on conference activities and impact can be prepared. Programs can include graphics, dissolves, pre-taped segments, remote feeds from any location, and dramatic sets as required, and can be preserved on videotape for viewing at another time or subsequent distribution. The addition of a telephone hookup at receiving sites allows all participants to communicate with each other. For program transmission, WETA utilizes permanent downlink networks as well as portable equipment. Interconnections with other studios and systems are also possible. WETA's video production services include concept and content development, format design, production management, print support materials, and technical and creative staffing. The firm also offers a range of product support services in order to create a multimedia approach. To facilitate its videoconferencing and production services, WETA maintains two fully equipped studios, complete video and audiotape facilities with audio/video computer-controlled switching and special effects capability, and a team of technicians, directors, writers, and producers.
