Description: Steel Dynamics Inc. was incorporated in Indiana in August 1993 and trades on the NASDAQ. The company is one of the largest steel producers and one of the largest metals recyclers in the United States. Steel Dynamics operates its business in three segments: steel operations, metals recycling and ferrous resource operations, and steel fabrication operations. Headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind., the company has various operations throughout the eastern half of the United States. As of December 31, 2008, Steel Dynamics owned six locations for steel operations, nine locations for metals recycling and ferrous resource operations, and five locations for steel fabrication operations. On June 9, 2008, the company completed its acquisition of Recycle South, one of the nation's largest, privately-held, regional scrap metal recycling companies in order to expand its metals recycling business. And, on June 24, 2008, Steel Dynamics acquired certain assets of Sturgis Iron & Metal, an operator of scrap collection and processing locations, to continue the expansion of its metals recycling operations.Manufacturing: Manufactures cold rolled ultra thin steel, and hot-mill steel galvanizing.
