Schottenstein has three subsidiaries which include, Value Fair Corporation, Value City, and Value City Furniture Division. The corporation also has 171 branch locations. Value City stores sell over-stocked, close-out, and off-season goods. The range of items vary from clothing to housewares to jewelry and sporting goods. Stores are located in fifteen states, primarily the Midwest. Value City also operates more than 40 shoe stores under the name DSW Shoe Warehouse. In additon to Value City and DSW, the Schottenstein family has controlling interest in America Eagle Outfitters. Recently, Schottenstein pledged over 12.5 million towards the construction of a new sports facility on the Ohio State University campus. A top competitor for Schottenstein is Wal-Mart.
