Polaroid Corp. is the worldwide leader in instant imaging. They supply instant photographic cameras and films, digital imaging hardware, software and media, secure identification systems, graphics imaging systems, sunglasses and polarizers to markets worldwide. Struggling to compete in the age of digital photography and disposable cameras, Polaroid has decided to focus on their core competencies and sell their non-core operations. They have manufacturing facilities in China, Mexico, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States. Wal-Mart is their biggest customer, accounting for approximately 13% of sales. About 40% of sales are generated outside the United States. As of September 1999, Polaroid's operating profits increased 39.0% to $46.0 million while worldwide sales for the first nine months remained flat as compared to the same time period in the previous year. Competition includes Eastman Kodak, Fuji Photo, and Hewlett-Packard.
