Pioneer Hi-Bred International Inc. produces, markets and sells hybrid seed corn in nearly 100 countries worldwide. They also market and sell hybrids or improved varieties of sorghum, sunflower, soybean, alfalfa, canola and wheat, as well as silage and hay inoculants. Corn seed accounts for more than 75% of sales and about 75% of all sales are generated within the U.S. For the fiscal year ended August 1998, Pioneer's sales increased 2.9% to $1,835.0 million and net income increased 11.1% to $270.0 million.
