Description: PPG Industries, Inc., was incorporated in 1883. It holds its headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, and trades on the NYSE. PPG produces glass fiber for nonwoven and textile applications. Primary optical and specialty materials products are Transitions lenses, sunlenses, optical materials and polarized film; amorphous precipitated silicas for tire, battery separator and other end-use markets; and Teslin synthetic printing sheet used in such applications as waterproof labels, e-passports, drivers' licenses and identification cards. The commodity chemicals segment produces chlor-alkali and derivative products including chlorine, caustic soda, vinyl chloride monomer, chlorinated solvents, calcium hypochlorite, ethylene dichloride and phosgene derivatives. PPG produces flat glass in North America and continuous-strand fiber glass globally.
