Mary Kay is the second largest direct seller of beauty products in the country (behind Avon). The company's lines are in body care, cosmetics, dietary supplements, facial skin care, fragrances, men's skin care, nail care and sun protection. The company has operations in 28 markets in the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Pacific Rim. About 500,000 mostly female sales consultants demonstrate Mary Kay products in customers' homes and offices. The company was founded in 1963 by Mary Kay Ash, who along with her family, own most of the company. Amway, Avon and L'Oreal are Mary Kay's leading competitors.
