Kellwood Company resulted from the merging of 15 independent supplies of goods to Sears, Roebuck & Company in 1961. When Kellwood first was founded it employed approximately 7,000 employees in 22 plants throughout 10 states in the US. In August 28, 1964 it was incorporated as a Delaware corporation and the executive offices were established in Chicago and later moved to St.Louis in 1966. The company is best known for its line of Kathie Lee collection currently sold in Wal-Mart stores. Approximately 40% of the company's revenue is obtained from women's apprarel which is currently spread across 18,000 retailers which not only includes Wal-Mart but J.C. Penney, Dillard's, L.L. Bean and Sears. Both name brand and private label apparel is distributed to the 18,000 retailers.
