Description: General Dynamics Corporation was formed in 1952 through the combination of Electric Boat Company, Consolidated Vultee (CONVAIR) and other companies. It offers a broad portfolio of products and services in business aviation; combat vehicles, weapons systems and munitions; shipbuilding design and construction; and information systems, technologies and services. In the early 1990s, the company sold nearly all of its divisions except Electric Boat and Land Systems. Beginning in 1995, the company expanded those two core defense businesses by acquiring additional shipyards and combat vehicle-related businesses. Since then, General Dynamics has acquired and successfully integrated 52 businesses, including five in 2008. The company operates four business groups: Aerospace, Combat Systems, Marine Systems and Information Systems and Technology. Headquartered in Falls Church, Virginia, the company owns or leases approximately 46.5 million square feet of facility space.
