Description: Formed in 1888 as Pittsburgh Aluminum Company and then incorporated the same year under the name Pittsburgh Reduction Company, Alcoa Inc. is a Pennsylvania corporation with its principal office in New York City. The company was started based on Charles Martin Hall's 1886 aluminum.-making process. In 1907, the company changed its name to Aluminum Company of America and remained so until 1999 when it was shortened to its current form. Alcoa went public in 1925 and trades on the New York Stock Exchange. The company is the world leader in the production and management of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum, and alumina combined. The company's operations consist of six worldwide segments: alumina, primary metals, flat-rolled products, extruded and end products, engineered solutions, and packaging and consumer.
