Tube City Inc. is a full service organization providing raw materials and services to the steel industry. Tube City brokers, transports, processes, and agglomerates scrap. In 1926, David Coslov founded Tube City Iron & Metal in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. The company name was derived based upon the fact that McKeesport was the home of National Tube, one of the world's largest tube mills. In 1987, the company was acquired by David's grandson, I. Michael Coslov, and renamed Tube City Inc. Over the years, the company has grown into a multi-divisional national corporation with sales exceeding $600 million who processes over 6 million tons of scrap annually. Tube City processes slag, steel, and iron and sells the resulting raw materials to steel mills and foundries. They use a melt chemistry optimization computer model which enables them to create further value for customers by producing the lowest cost liquid steel. Tube City also partnered with Isaac Group to develop Krystal Bond which is a process that turns waste into carbon substitutes used in blast furnaces. Results reported for their fiscal year end in December 1998 indicate sales of $550.0 million, representing an increase of 5.8%. At that time, they reported they currently employed 500 people, which reflected an increase of approximately 1.6 percent. Top competitors include David J.
