Description: BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc., a Delaware corporation, was founded in New England, in 1984, as an operating division of Waban, Inc. The company became an independent, publicly owned entity, and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange, in 1997 when Waban distributed to its stockholders on a pro rata basis all of BJ's outstanding common stock. BJ's Wholesale Club operates warehouse clubs which include the sales of food, general merchandise, gasoline and other specialty businesses to its members. The company's club operations are its only reportable segment and as of early 2008, BJ's Wholesale Club operated 177 BJ's warehouse clubs, 100 of which operated gasoline stations. BJ's Wholesale Club has its home offices in Natick, Massachusetts and operates stores in 16 states, including New York, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Ohio, Rhode Island, Delaware, Maine and South Carolina.
