Description: Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust is a fully integrated, self-administered, publicly-traded real estate investment trust (REIT) organized on October 2, 1997. The company's predecessor, RPS Realty Trust, a Massachusetts business trust, was formed on June 21, 1988. In May 1996, RPS Realty Trust acquired the Ramco-Gershenson interests through a reverse merger, including substantially all of the shopping centers and retail properties as well as the management company and business operations of Ramco-Gershenson, Inc. The resulting trust changed its name to Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust and Ramco-Gershenson, Inc.'s officers assumed management responsibility. The trust also changed its operations from a mortgage REIT to an equity REIT and contributed certain mortgage loans and real estate properties to Atlantic Realty Trust, an independent, newly formed liquidating REIT. In 1997, with approval from shareholders, the company changed the state of organization by terminating the Massachusetts trust and merging into a newly-formed Maryland REIT. Headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust owns, develops, acquires, manages and leases community shopping centers and one regional mall, in the Midwestern, Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.
