The company produces dry and canned Eukanuba and Iams premium dog and cat foods and distributes it in over 77 countries. Iams' revenues rose to about $500 million in 1998 and the company employed over 15,000 workers. In 1999 Clay Mathile agreed to sell the company to Proctor and Gamble for $2.3 billion, pending anti-trust approval. Iams' leading competitors are Ralston Purina, Mars, and Colgate Palmolive.
