Zalmon J. Simmons built the first Simmons factory in Wisconsin in 1870. Simmons manufactured cheese boxes, but in 1876, decided to begin mass producing woven wire mattresses. The company is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and has 18 branch locations. In 1925, the first "BEAUTYREST" mattress was created with individual coils. In 1995, Simmons launched the "BACKCARE" mattresses, promising perfect spinal alignment. It is the first mattress company to use laser technology to measure motion. Recently, in partnership with Dr. James Mass, Simmons has developed the "BEAUTYREST POWER SLEEP SYSTEM". This mattress was built by incorporating all theories relative to a good nights sleep.
