Southwire provides power. The privately held company was founded in 1950, by Roy Richards, Senior. Their divisions are, Wire and Cable, Copper, Machinery, Aluminum Rod, NSA, Specialty Products, Georgia Wire Products, SCR Technology Consumer Products Division, and Forte Power Systems. In August of 1999, Southwire began building the world's first high-temperature, superconducting (HTS) power system. The three 30 meter power cables will power three of the company's manufacturing plants. Southwire also has offices in Mexico, Hong Kong, and Paris.
