Parkdale Mills is the largest independently owned yarn spinner in the nation. They manufacture cotton and cotton blend yarn. The company sells to customers all over the world including U.S., Canada, The Pacific Rim and Far East. Their clients include, Lands End, LL Bean and Jockey International. The yarn is used in sheets, towels, underwear and hosiery. Founded in 1916, with a single plant in Gastonia, North Carolina the company now operates several plants in North Carolina and Southern Virginia. Parkdale Mills has a joint venture with Burlington Industries; They own and operate 65 % of Parkdale America. parkdale Mills' Chief Executive Officer, Duke Kimbrell owns 50% of the company.
