Description: Pactiv Corporation was incorporated in 1965 as Packaging Corporation of America. The company changed its name to Tenneco Packaging in 1995, then to Pactiv Corporation in 1999. It is headquartered in Lake Forest, Ill. Pactiv produces packaging products in two main business segments: consumer and foodservice/foo packaging. The consumer segment includes recognizable brands such as the Hefty line, Baggies and EZ Foil. The foodservice/food packaging segment produces products that are designed to protect food during distribution. Pactiv operates 44 manufacturing facilities in North America and one in Germany, along with joint-venture interests in a corrugated-converting operation in Shaoxing, China (62.5% owned) and in a folding-carton operation in Dongguan, China (51% owned). The company also maintains a systems and information-management infrastructure and distribution network to reduce supply-chain costs, enhance customer service and improve productivity.
