Galpin Motors does not want its customers to think of it as just another car dealership. Along with Fords, Lincolns, Mercuries, Jaguars, and Saturns, the company has offered such entertaining diversions as miniature circuses, a miniature White House, flower shows, a trout pond, and a King Tut exhibit. The San Fernando Valley dealership, actually a complex of service areas and sales departments for both new and used vehicles, also operates the Horseless Carriage Restaurant. Galpin sells more Fords than any other dealership, and sold the world's first Saturn. The company also sells "Galpinized" autos, cars that have been detailed and enhanced, such as surf vans and the Gucci car--complete with matching scarf and wallet. Galpin, owned by the Boeckmann family, has sales in excess of $500 million annually. Its major competition is Penske Automotive and David Wilson's.
