Chemcentral operates 32 distribution plants, 28 sales and warehouse sites, and one pigment/dye facility, all of which are in North America. The company is planning to further its presence into the European market. Chemcentral acquired Continental Industrial Chemical Inc. June 10, 1999. Continental has operations in Charlotte and Burlington, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina. Continental's sales in 1998 were $44 million, while Chemcentral's were $890 million. Chemcentral has also partnered with two distribution organizations in Europe and the United Kingdom to form the Global Chemical Distribution Alliance. This alliance links Penta Chemikalien GmbH & Co., Hays Chemicals Ltd. and Chemcentral into a coordinated service to accommodate multinational accounts.
