Description: Eagle Materials Inc. was founded in 1963. At that time, the company operated as a public subsidiary of Centex Corporation under the name Centex Construction Products, Inc. In January 2004, Centex distributed the company's shares to the shareholders in a stock spin-out, and the company is now fully independent and publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Eagle Materials manufactures and distributes building materials, primarily gypsum wallboard and cement, and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. As of 2009, the company operates in four different business segments. The first, gypsum wallboard, operates five manufacturing facilities in Colorado, New Mexico, South Carolina and Oklahoma. The cement segment has four cement manufacturing facilities located in Illinois, Nevada, Texas and Wyoming (Eagle's Texas plant is operated through a 50/50 joint venture). The third segment, recycled paperboard, is located in Lawton, Oklahoma. Finally, the concrete and aggregates segment operates concrete plants and aggregate quarries in central Texas and northern California.Manufacturing: Cement, aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and gypsum wallboard.
