Bose Corp. began in 1964 and today is the world's largest speaker manufacturer. Headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts, Bose's products include an array of audio equipment, such as auto and personal computer sound systems, professional loudspeakers, and stereo speakers for the home. Bose's sound equipment can be found in theaters, studios and stadiums. Bose operates eight manufacturing facilities and has distribution networks in many countries. The company has expanded its market presence into China, Russia and India. Competitor Harman International introduced the Harmony, a $350 clock radio with a remote control intended as a copycat version of Bose's $349 wave radio. Bose sold close to 200,000 Wave's while the Harmony sold only 20,000. Founder and owner, Amar Bose is concentrating on downsizing his company's speakers. Top competitors include Bang and Olufsen Holding, Harman International and Matsushita.
