Oregon senior Shadrack Kiptoo-Biwott is a shoe collector.

Ever since the Kenyan native arrived on the UO campus as a transfer from New Mexico in the spring of 2006, the three-time all-American distance runner has been saving his worn out training shoes in his locker.

He even convinced his Duck teammates to contribute to his collection.

"I tell the boys, if they're done using the shoes, throw them in my locker," Kiptoo-Biwott said. "I left the door open, and when it's a good amount, I take them home, wash them and throw them in the closet."

Last December, Kiptoo-Biwott gathered all the shoes - he figures his collection had grown to about 100 pairs - and tightly packed them into four...
