Lane County is being sued for allegedly failing to properly close two former garbage dumps, one in west Eugene and the other in Cres well, in lawsuits seeking more than $12 million filed recently in U.S. District Court.

The county maintains it closed the dumps in accordance with state requirements and has no liability.

Frontier Recovery, managed by Veneta developer Greg Demers, alleges that land it owns in west Eugene was never closed properly by the county after use as a county dump from 1974...
