For most of the Pitt football team, last September's Thursday night matchup between Oregon State and USC turned into must-see TV.

Even though the game didn't end until the wee hours of the morning in western Pennsylvania, three time zones away, the players stayed with the telecast until the finish as the Beavers held on for a signature 27-21 win.

It's a victory that still reverberates today.

And for that, Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt and his staff, are grateful.

For they've had no problem getting their team's attention when they first began to discuss OSU in preparation for the Sun Bowl on Dec. 31 in El Paso, Texas.
