CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- CHARLOTTE, N.C., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Goodrich Corporation announced today that it has been chosen by Airbus to provide the primary and standby air data systems for the A380. Goodrich technology has also been chosen for flight control, variable frequency power and cargo systems for the aircraft.

The air data systems award represents a logical progression and industry acceptance of the Goodrich SmartProbe(TM) air data architecture which is now in use on various military, regional and business aircraft programs. The company will deliver the first prototype units to the Airbus integration laboratory in September 2003.

"The A380 was the right program at the right time for our SmartProbe system," said Jerry Witowski, President, Goodrich Sensor Systems. "The award supports the industry's acceptance of the SmartProbe architecture which will result in reduced Airbus manufacturing costs as well as significant airline maintenance savings."
