An independent group of experts publishes their interim report on citizenship for consultation today.

The Life in the United Kingdom Group, chaired by citizenship expert Sir Bernard Crick, was set up in September to advise the Government on the implementation of its commitment to make becoming a British citizen a more significant life event.

The group, whose members include teachers of English as a Second Language, has now produced a report for consultation and to gain the views of interested parties.

Following consultation the final report will be submitted to Ministers for consideration before the Government publishes its final proposals.
