The Security Council extended the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) until 31 March, in order to give the parties time to consider a proposal of the Secretary-General for a political solution.
Unanimously adopting resolution 1463 (2003), the Council approved the two-month technical rollover of the Mission to enable the parties to consider the proposal presented to them earlier this month by the Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, James Baker III.
