Shares pop on superbug news: shares in Optimer Pharmaceuticals nearly doubled in price after the company said its lead drug candidate for the treatment of Clostridium difficile, a drug-resistant "superbug" known to wreak havoc on a patient's gastrointestinal tract, outperformed the only FDA-approved drug to treat the infection in a recent study.
