Since Behringer Saws manufactures both band saw and circular saw cutting equipment, customers often ask, "Which should I buy, a cold saw or a band saw?"
There simply is no black and white answer to that question. To make a recommendation requires a full understanding of the service center's applications, budget and long-term cutting goals.
The first consideration is the diameter and type of materials to be cut. Generally, the industry accepted maximum cutting size for circular cold saws is five to six inches. Beyond that, the decision clearly favors band saws, from both a capabilities and a cost perspective. So, for the sake of this discussion, the size range in question, or the "overlap" of band saw and circular saw capabilities, will be diameters of one to five inches....
