DAVAO CITY, Jan 21 Asia Pulse - Durian, that white smelly, luscious fruit which made this city famous, grew by leaps and bounds last year, racking up an impressive 47 per cent growth in total production compared to other local fruits here.

This is the biggest production gain for fruits recorded in this city in 2002, according to the latest data released here by the region's Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS).
