Torrey offers a worn-out agenda
This Halloween, Eugene is scarier than usual. Change is in the air, and we have a chance to help lead our nation in the direction it must go in the 21st century, toward sustainability and justice, innovation and restoration.
Yet we're about to elect a paradigm of the past, a mayor we already had, Jim Torrey. Please don't do it.
Why won't he go away? He's like a zombie, relentlessly advancing the old, discredited, dangerous agenda of infinite growth on a finite planet. We don't need more power in the hands of the developers, the extractors, the destroyers, the greedheads. Don't let these people eat your brains!
Next time you see one of those green billboards or lawn signs with the pilfered Barack Obama slogan on it, think truly green and vote for Kitty Piercy. She may not be perfect, but she has a beating heart, a mind of her own and a program of hope and change shared by the whole community.
