Kristi Davis and her 16-year-old daughter McKenzie were having a little disagreement while shopping for Halloween costumes.

McKenzie wanted a pimp costume that cost $99 at Spirit Halloween Superstore at Valley River Center. "Absolutely not, for two reasons," was her mother's response - the foremost being the price tag.

"I told her I'm not doing it because we don't have it this year," Davis said. "We usually go all out."

So it goes this Halloween season, with both retailers and revelers saying Halloween spending is down this year. With the U.S. economy in the dumps and the stock market on a stomach- churning roller coaster, many consumers are re cycling old...
