SPRINGFIELD - It simply doesn't get any better than this.

It will be No. 1 vs. No. 2 as the nation's best men's and women's cross country teams descend upon Springfield Country Club today to compete for conference supremacy at the 2008 Pac-10 championships.

Top-ranked Oregon, led by seniors Galen Rupp and Shadrack Kiptoo-Biwott, will shoot for its third consecutive men's title. The reigning NCAA champions are expected to face a strong challenge from second-ranked Stanford.

On the women's side, the Cardinal's streak of 12 straight Pac-10 crowns is in jeopardy as No. 1 Washington, buoyed by the breakout performances of freshmen Kendra Schaaf and Christine Babcock, faces No. 2 Oregon on the Ducks' home course.

UO head coach Vin Lananna, who has collected 17 team titles and eight individual trophies during his tenure at Stanford and Oregon, can't recall any other conference meet that...
