FRIDAY, OCT. 17
1 Stolen vehicle: 4:54 a.m., 4000 block Camellia Street. A caller reported that as her son was preparing to leave for work, an unknown subject got into his car and sped away. The caller's son and husband attempted to follow the vehicle.
Traffic hazard: 7:48 a.m., Main and 66th streets. A caller reported that students were running in front of cars as they crossed the street to get to the high school. The caller said some of the students were "acting like it's a game."
Stolen vehicle: 4:39 p.m., Mount Vernon Road and South 59th Street. A caller reported that a teenager on an all-terrain vehicle was driving erratically on a private road. The teen reportedly crashed, then ran away. Officers determined the ATV had been stolen and contacted the owner.
Disorderly subject: 6:17 p.m., E and 16th streets. A man reportedly was drinking beer from a paper sack while going door to door, asking for socks. Police took the man to a substance abuse treatment center.
Traffic hazard: 8:52 p.m., South 42nd Street and Booth Kelly Road. A deer carcass was discovered in a bag near some railroad tracks. Public Works was notified.
2 Animal complaint: 11:54 p.m., 4800 block Elderberry Loop. A caller reported that her husband returned home to find a cougar in their front yard. The cougar ran away between some houses.
SATURDAY, OCT. 18
Suspicious conditions: 2:24 a.m., 1900 block Second Street. Two men on bikes were seen looking into vehicles in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
