SCHOOLS in London are being starved of almost [pounds sterling]150 million they need to pay for more teachers and books this year - and the trend is set to continue.

Many boroughs are failing to spend the amount on education recommended by Whitehall as the minimum required to cover all their schools' needs.

Headteachers are furious because the underinvestment in schools will continue until at least 2008.

Figures obtained by the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) show the worst culprits were Wandsworth and Bromley....
